Football season is the perfect time to try some new seafood apps
Football season is in full swing which means one thing- game day parties every Sunday! We all know the best part about game days is the beer and the food, so why not make some new and delicious seafood appetizers for your friends and family at your next party?
Drunken Goat Cheese Crab Dip
A dip is the perfect football game snack, as it’s easy to serve with a bag of chips and place it in front of the TV for everyone to eat without taking their eyes off the game. The main ingredients include reduced-fat cream cheese, drunken goat cheese and one pound of claw crabmeat. The best part is that it only takes 15 minutes of prep time and 30 minutes to cook, allowing you to spend as little time away from the game as possible.
Coconut Shrimp
Doesn’t the name just make your mouth water? These delicious shrimp appetizers are the perfect hand-held snack and are very easy to make. Start with one pound of uncooked peeled and deveined medium shrimp, and mix them in a bowl with one cup of Bisquick mix, one egg and ¾ cup of milk. You’ll then want to place about one and a half cups of flaked coconut into a dish and coat the battered shrimp with coconut, then cut in a skillet with heated oil. The shrimp should be cooked a few at a time in a single layer for three to four minutes, turning them over once. After the shrimp are cooked, mix ½ cup of chili sauce and ½ cup of apricot preserves for the perfect dip.
Mini Crab Cake Pies
Who doesn’t love a crab cake? This easy recipe takes under an hour, and your guests will be begging for more. Start with two cans of crabmeat, mixed with ½ teaspoon of seafood seasoning. Then cook one chopped medium onion and ½ cup of chopped red bell pepper in a skillet, adding the crab meat after four minutes until the mixture is heated through. After letting it cool for five minutes, cover in one cup of shredded mozzarella cheese. Then start on the baking mix, which includes ½ cup of Bisquick mix, ½ cup of milk and two eggs. Fill regular-sized muffin cups with one tablespoon of the baking mixture, ½ cup of crab mixture, then top with another tablespoon of the baking mixture. Bake for 30 minutes at 375 degrees, and you’re done! You can also make a crab cake aioli to pair with your pies, by mixing ½ cup of mayonnaise, ½ teaspoon of seafood seasoning, and one tablespoon of fresh lemon juice.
